A few weeks ago, I had the chance to work with the Leica X1 as I joined my partner in one of her school projects, documenting an unseen sight of Singapore.
We went to a small fishing port somewhere in Seletar and met some friendly and not so friendly fishermen.
The fisherman who gave us access was Christopher. At least that’s what I think his name is…
He is such an interesting character as he is Indian and aside from his mother tongue, speaks fluent English, different dialects and puts my Mandarin to shame.
It was a really relaxing shoot under the sun with the sea breeze and spray.
I love working with the fixed 35mm focal length but good lord. I finally found a camera that focuses slower than my Canon 5D in low light conditions.
Then again, I know why people put up with the Leica X1’s autofocus as the camera gave me brilliant colours and tonal range for its compact size.
Enjoy the images and Happy Chinese New Year!
