Even before I got to Shanghai, I was very fascinated with their ‘Ancient Water Town’ as the guide book touts.
They speak of old architectures and tea houses next to beautiful water canals!
Qi Bao is one of the nearest water town from the city centre; about a 20 minutes ride in the taxi.
If you managed to block out the crowd of people, you do get a sense that you have been transported back into ancient China.
Or at the very least, a movie set.
Bella Ciao plays every Friday at Café Bellino who serves great Italian food.
No Foreign Lands by Jamie Chan went to have a listen to their Italian music and had a great night out.
Next on the itinerary was the 豫园 (Yu Yuan) Gardens, a restored example of a Ming Dynasty Chinese Garden design. Don’t forget to have some dumplings when you are here!
Shanghai, a city of a hundred years; can be seen in DuoLun. Of course, we had to visit the DuoLun Famous Cultural People Street where we had an incredible meal!
Next in our Shanghai Story adventures, 1933 Shanghai started out as an incredible concrete slaughterhouse. It now serves other purposes after its retirement.
