Baroque and electronic music in The Arts House

I had the opportunity to photograph two different music acts recently; Elbipolis and Yumetori.
From the beautiful setting of the Arts House to the Esplanade concourse singing along to songs of yesteryears, here are my images:

Barock Lounge: Outer Space – Elbipolis & DJ Brezel Göring

This was one of the most interesting music acts I’ve heard so far as the performance started at 11 pm; kind of like the time you would head into a club to get some music and drinks in your system or if you are somewhat like me, you should be preparing to burrito yourself in bed.

Yet, the audience was not there to be the next dancing or sleeping queen; they were there to listen to a combination of baroque and electronic music!

The two sounds can’t be more different yet Elbipolis managed to weave a narrative into their performance with the use of visuals and a combination of different instruments.

At times, I felt like I was back in the nineteen century especially so due to the wooden interior and giant chandelier hanging in the middle of the venue before being pulled back by the electronic music. Aptly, the performance was titled Barock I see what they did there Lounge: Outer Space as I felt like I was tripping for parts of the performance; they even managed to sneak in tune from David Bowie.

The performance was such a fantastic treat for me to photograph and I enjoyed every last bit of it.

Yumetori (Dreambird)

Yumetori is helmed by the beautiful Ariel on vocals and Ian on the keys. The duo was invited by the Esplanade to sing songs of the golden era my favourite kind!
Ariel was such a joy to photograph with her gorgeous red hair and it was a lot of fun singing along to some of the pieces that I didn’t grow up with but somehow know…
Yumetori is available for various gigs so do have a listen to them and perhaps they will sing for you someday!
