Fixed Lenses Are Better – A 25 Hour SONY Workshop With Edwin Koo

When I was starting out as a photographer, I would put the ‘holy trinity’ of lenses in my bag; mainly the 16-35mm, 24-70mm and the 70-200mm. I was so afraid that if I got ‘too close’ to the person I am photographing they would either scold me or take a knife out of their bag and chase after me…

With great lenses comes great weight as not only did the holy trinity slow me down when I was shooting, there was always something lacking in my images.
It was then my mentor convinced me to switch to prime lenses at which I discovered why he swears by them.

After which, the rest was history as I only work with the 35mm and 50mm for all my assignments.

Edwin Koo Workshop

If you are still having doubts about prime lenses or want to learn more about them, photojournalist Edwin Koo is holding a 25-hour workshop on why fixed lenses are better!
Not only do you get to pick his brains on fixed lenses, you also get to learn about his editing workflow which I must say is highly recommended as you will bring back a different perspective to your edits.

The images in this post are all done on a fixed 35mm Summilux.
Rather, half the images on my blog are done on that lens.
